Facelift

For those seeking a younger, more vibrant look, facelift surgery offers a highly effective method of reducing telltale signs of aging. Sun damage, stress, and pollutants all have a profound affect on the skin. In time, these elements show themselves in the form of wrinkles and other types of skin damage that can make a person appear older than they are. Facelift surgery, performed at our Clinique Dallas office, is an excellent option for those seeking a solution to jowling of the face, or a sagging jaw line, as well as other telling effects of skin damage or age.

Aging can cause your facial skin to wrinkle and droop, making you look sad or angry even when you are not. This is unfortunate, because your face communicates so much about you to others and its appearance can influence how you feel about yourself. If you are bothered by lines, sagging skin around your jaw line, droopy cheeks, or deep creases that extend from your nose to your mouth, you may be a good candidate for a facelift.

Facelift surgery involves removing excess skin, tightening underlying muscle and tissue, and removing fatty deposits in the face and neck. The facial skin is then smoothed and pulled more tightly and the incisions are sutured. Most facelift scars can be hidden within the hairline.

Indications:

Men and Women who are unhappy with facial aging. As the face ages deep creases form between the nose and mouth, increase laxity of the neck, jawline becomes loose and jowls may appear.

Procedure:

  • Facelift takes around 2-3 hours. A Facelift is an outpatient procedure, and is performed under general anesthesia.
  • Facelift can be performed alone, or in conjuction with other procedures including a Forehead Lift, Neck Lift, or Eyelid Surgery.
  • Incisions are made in the hairline, follow the natural line of the ear, and curve behind the ear.
  • Most of the scars will not be visible.

A facelift is often combined with other procedures to give you the best possible results. For example, a facelift might be combined with a platysmaplasty (neck lift), eyelid surgery, a forehead lift, or fat grafting. Also skin care regimens and treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic are often indicated to prolong results. The best way to determine which procedures are right for you is to speak with a doctor about your specific case.

Patients who undergo facelift surgery should expect some skin discoloration, swelling, and numbness, all of which normally resolve.

During this time, it is important to allow sufficient recovery time. We will provide extensive information regarding your facelift surgical recovery. Immediately after the procedure, loose bandages will be placed and a drainage tube may be inserted behind the ear in order to prevent fluid from collecting. After the procedure, most patients can return to work and other activities in about 10 days to two weeks. During your recovery, the professionals at our office will be there to answer any questions you may have.

We will be happy to answer any questions you have about aesthetic surgery.
