Thanks to plastic surgeons and the world of aesthetics, you are now able to sculpt or change your body to resemble the way you want it to. The beauty of the human body is that we all come in different sizes and shapes. This is particularly true when talking about our breasts. While our differences make us unique and beautiful, some may desire subtle or moderate changes in their appearance. If you are someone who is unhappy with your breast size and looking into a breast augmentation to boost your self confidence, here are a few things that you might want to know.
A breast augmentation is meant to either enhance the size of your breasts or restore lost volume from life events such as weight loss or breast feeding.
Because we all come in different sizes and shapes, we also have different desires when it comes to enhancing our breasts. Knowing this, it makes sense that it’s impossible for one type of implant to achieve the same result for every single person. This is where your consultation with your surgeon is key. During your consultation, we will take measurements, ask you about your desired results and then make recommendations to which size implants are best fit for you.

Silicone Implants vs. Saline Implants
For most patients when choosing between a silicone versus saline breast implant, we prefer the placement of silicone implants for a few reasons. Silicone implants look and feel more like a natural breast and are also lighter in weight versus saline.
The silicone implants are placed under the chest muscle beneath the breast, through a small incision made in the lower crease of your breast. This allows additional support with less risks for complications, such as capsular contracture or tightening/hardening of the tissue surrounding your breast implant. The procedure itself only takes approximately 30-45 minutes and you are able to go home the same day.
Recovery Time After a Breast Augmentation
The recovery after breast augmentation surgery is very straightforward and manageable. We ask that you avoid lifting any objects over 10-15lbs and avoid any strenuous exercising for up to 6 weeks after your surgery. You will be given postoperative medication that you may or may not need to keep you comfortable based on your tolerance. You will also be given a postoperative supportive bra that we ask you to wear up to 5 weeks after surgery.
